SGS builds cosmetics testing facility in Dubai

Multidisciplinary 1,300 sqm center boasts a cleanroom-certified laboratory

SGS has opened a multidisciplinary, 1,300-square-meter Center of Excellence Testing Facility in Dubai. The ISO/IEC 17025-accredited, Class 10,000 cleanroom-certified laboratory will focus on analytical testing – physical, chemical, and microbial contamination – for cosmetic and personal care products.

SGS is one of the world’s leading testing, inspection, and certification companies with 96,000 employees across a network of 2,600 offices and laboratories.

The Dubai lab has a range of capabilities, including PCR testing to identify pork and pork derivatives in cosmetic products. This is necessary to determine whether products can receive halal certification, which is a key focus for cosmetics manufacturers looking to sell their goods throughout the region.

Along with cosmetics and personal care products, the SGS lab is equipped to cover all testing parameters for other consumer products, including food and beverages.

By providing testing services in Dubai, cosmetics and personal care product manufacturers will no longer have to send their samples overseas. This will reduce costs, speed up turnaround times, and expedite their go-to-market process.

SGS Dubai is the approved certification body and notified body for the matrix of regional statutory and regulatory certifications across consumer product categories, with full-time technical product experts based in Dubai.
