DHL sets up EV logistics hub in Dubai

Region’s first EV and battery facility is at Jebel Ali Free Zone

DHL Global Forwarding has established the region’s first electric vehicle (EV) and battery logistics hub in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA). The 23,500-square-meter warehouse includes a dedicated EV battery storage area, which will be expanded later in 2022.

The initiative supports the Middle East’s transition to the circular economy by ensuring a consistent supply chain for sustainable mobility solutions. Customers benefit from integrated compliant solutions enabling EV growth within the region, such as safe storage, returns management, defective battery management, and recycling.

EVs are critical to decarbonizing the transport sector. The EV market is expected to grow six times in size over the next 10 years, on the back of surging sales. More than half (55%) of new car sales by 2040 are projected to be EVs.
