RTA opens Intelligent Traffic Systems Center

USD160m project starts at Al Barsha in Dubai

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened the Dubai Intelligent Traffic Systems Center constructed at a cost of AED 590 million (USD 160 million).

The facility is considered one of the biggest and most sophisticated traffic control centers worldwide in terms of smart technology use and the management of traffic systems. It is developed to meet the needs of Dubai’s rapid urban growth and the infrastructure expansion required for Expo 2020 Dubai, as well as support current and future transport systems.

The center employs smart technologies and software to ease mobility across Dubai, and expands the coverage of intelligent traffic systems from 11 percent to 60 percent of the roads network in the city. The new facility will improve the time for detection of road incidents and prediction of congestion, apart from facilitating a speedy response to them.

A hub for managing traffic movement across the city, the Dubai Intelligent Traffic Systems Center is a state-of-the-art technology platform that uses artificial intelligence, big data, internet of things and technologies of advanced communication systems. It connects with numerous devices for monitoring traffic, capturing data and running other smart services. Through intelligent traffic systems, the center has the ability to monitor and manage current and future road networks all over Dubai.
