SAFR targets Mideast growth with Dubai office
Face biometrics firm is RealNetworks subsidiary
Thursday 30 July 2020
SAFR, RealNetworks’ facial recognition company, has set up a regional office in Dubai to expand growth in the Middle East.
The office will be focused on expanding the company’s network of resellers and partners and growing its sales and marketing programs across the region.
SAFR’s flagship technology revolves around the use of facial recognition to identify individuals in security camera feeds. It has primarily been marketed as a biometric surveillance tool, but it also can be used to identify registered subjects such as employees of a given workplace.
RealNetworks has emphasized the growth potential for this kind of solution in the Middle Eastern market. The Middle East video surveillance market is set to grow 17 percent per year with over 50 million cameras installed by the end of 2021, the company said.
