Oneroad is first Chinese taxi firm in Dubai
City’s seventh taxi operator plans 2,000 vehicles by 2020
Wednesday 13 February 2019
Dubai’s seventh taxi franchise – and its first Chinese taxi firm – has begun operations with 100 vehicles. Oneroad Taxi plans to expand its fleet to at least 2,000 vehicles by 2020, including limousines, ladies, and special needs taxis.
While the initial 100 vehicles are all Toyota Camrys, the firm plans to introduce Chinese-made Hongqi H7 and H5 luxury vehicles for its limousine services. The company is also developing a taxi booking app.
The new taxis are part of a larger Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) effort to increase the taxi fleet ahead of the expected increase in demand associated with Expo 2020 Dubai. Including Oneroad’s 100, there are currently 10,834 taxis operating in Dubai.
